One van for the car, the condo and the office: a Buckhead locksmith that comes to the lock
4Keys Locksmith, a Georgia LLC on file with the Secretary of State under the name 4Keys Locksmith LLC, is a 24/7 mobile car and home locksmith for Buckhead in the City of Atlanta: NASTF VSP authorized for vehicle security work, ALOA certified, and both insured and bonded. The vans are dispatched from the City of Brookhaven, which borders Buckhead on the east, so a technician typically reaches a Buckhead address in 15 to 30 minutes. Nobody waits at a counter, because there is none: the key machine, the programmers and the lock stock ride along, which is what a mobile-only locksmith means in practice.
The work on a Buckhead street looks like it does anywhere in Atlanta: a Honda or Toyota key, a Ford or Chevrolet pickup with no spare, a fob that quit answering, a condo door, an office suite that needs new keys after someone left. The same van also carries the equipment and the dealer-level access for Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes-Benz keys, which follow rules of their own and get their own section below.
You hear the price for the job on the phone, worked out from what kind of key or lock it is, how the key gets programmed, and what time it is, and nothing is dispatched before you agree; the published rates live on the 4Keys pricing page. The dispatcher answers in English and in Spanish.

Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes-Benz keys: the systems, and why some keys are ordered by VIN
A German car key does the same two jobs as any other: a blade or emergency insert for the doors, and an electronic identity the immobilizer has to accept before the engine runs. What sets Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes-Benz apart is how tightly the maker controls that identity. On some generations the key is programmed at the car like a Toyota key; on others it is produced for one VIN through the manufacturer and only then delivered. Knowing which case your car is in, before anyone drives over, is the whole point of asking for the VIN. How an immobilizer reads a chip in general is covered on the Brookhaven page.
Volkswagen numbers its immobilizer generations. On Immobilizer 3 and 4 cars, adding a key requires the car's PIN, and the Ross-Tech reference for Immobilizer 4 says every key must be new or already adapted to that same car, with room for up to eight, and that new keys are ordered by VIN at a Volkswagen dealer. The STRATTEC 2008 transponder guide lists the Jetta from 2002 to 2008, the Golf from 2002 to 2006 and the Passat from 2002 to 2005 only as a dealer key. Newer Volkswagens built on the MQB platform use a Megamos AES chip. More on the Volkswagen locksmith page.
BMW has moved its key data between modules over the years: EWS on the E46 3 Series, the Car Access System (CAS) on the E90 3 Series and E60 5 Series, CAS4 on the F10 5 Series and F25 X3, the Front Electronic Module (FEM) on the F30 3 Series, and the Body Domain Controller (BDC) on the G30 5 Series and the X2. A new key is programmed through whichever module your car has, and from encrypted CAS onward the engine computer checks the key as well. BMW's own 3 Series owner's manual sends drivers to the service center for new remotes; 4Keys Locksmith programs them at the car, and the BMW locksmith page goes model by model.
Mercedes-Benz calls its immobilizer the Drive Authorization System (DAS). On DAS3 cars, which include the W204 C-Class of 2008 to 2014, a SmartKey is programmed to the car with aftermarket equipment. On DAS4, which Mercedes applies to every W205 C-Class and to the 2014 E-Class with option code 804, the key is programmed with XENTRY, the Mercedes dealer system, under rights Mercedes grants only to select dealer staff. The independent route runs through NASTF: registered Vehicle Security Professionals are authorized to order DAS4 keys, pre-programmed for the VIN, from a Mercedes-Benz dealership, with proof of ownership and a repair order on every order. That is why the key for a later C-Class is ordered first, and the dispatcher gives you the timing on the call. See the Mercedes-Benz locksmith page.
For all three makes, no key is programmed or ordered until the title or registration matches a photo ID with the same name on it. Have the VIN from the registration or the base of the windshield, the number of keys that still work, and whether the car starts with a turned key or a Start button. The dispatcher tells you on that call whether the key is done in one visit or ordered by VIN first, and prices it. The service itself is luxury and European key programming; the registry behind it is NASTF VSP, and whether locksmiths have dealer software explains what that access means.
Which system a German key uses, and how that key is supplied
Each year range is copied from the source named under the table; the VIN settles which row is yours.
| Vehicle | Years listed | Key security system | How the key is supplied |
|---|---|---|---|
| Volkswagen Jetta, Golf, Passat | Jetta 2002-2008, Golf 2002-2006, Passat 2002-2005 | Transponder key listed only as a dealer key (HU66T6) | Key ordered by VIN, then adapted to the car with its immobilizer PIN. |
| BMW 3 Series (E90) | 2006-2011 | Car Access System (CAS3) slot key | Programmed through the CAS module at the car; on encrypted CAS3+ the engine computer check is part of the job. |
| BMW 3 Series (F30) | 2012-2016 | Front Electronic Module (FEM), Hitag Pro (ID49) smart key | Programmed through the FEM at the car. |
| BMW 5 Series (G30) | 2017-2023 | Body Domain Controller (BDC) smart key | Programmed through the BDC. For builds from July 1, 2015 to April 30, 2018 with an older factory I-level, BMW bulletin SIB B66 16 18 calls for a full key set, so the build is checked first. |
| Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W204) | 2008-2014 | DAS3 (FBS3) SmartKey in the electronic ignition switch | SmartKey programmed to the car with aftermarket equipment. |
| Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W205) | 2015-2021 | DAS4 (FBS4) SmartKey | Key produced for the VIN through Mercedes-Benz; a NASTF VSP orders it through a Mercedes-Benz dealership. |
| Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W212) | 2014, with option code 804 | DAS4 (FBS4) SmartKey | Same VIN route as the W205; the option code, not the model year alone, decides it. |

Before you call about a German car: three things to read off it
First, the VIN, printed on the registration and visible through the windshield on the driver's side. Second, how the car starts: a key turned in a slot, a key pushed into a slot, or a Start button with the key in your pocket. Third, a count of the keys that still start the car, including any spare sitting in a drawer. With those three, the dispatcher can name the system, say whether the key is made at the car or ordered by VIN, and quote the job before the van leaves Brookhaven.
Houses behind gates, condos above Peachtree: what home lock work involves in Buckhead
Getting back into a house begins with non-destructive work on whatever lock is on the door: a knob, a lever, a deadbolt, or the mortise lock and handleset on a heavy front door. When the key is lost rather than locked inside, the lock can be rekeyed before the technician leaves, so the missing key stops working. A call at 2 a.m. goes the same way, under emergency locksmith service; for a house behind a driveway gate, read the gate code to the dispatcher.
Rekeying replaces the pins inside the cylinder and keeps the hardware; a lock change replaces the hardware itself, which makes sense when it is worn, loose or below the security you want. Several doors can be set to one key. Adding a deadbolt where the door has none means boring the door and fitting a strike plate, so mention whether a bore is already there. The overview is on residential locksmith service.
Keypad and app-controlled deadbolts usually go into the bore the old deadbolt used, whether you bought the lock or want one brought. High-security cylinders with restricted keyways are fitted for owners who want keys that no hardware counter can copy; extra keys are then ordered through an authorized source.
In a condo tower on Peachtree Road, the unit door is often part of the building's master key system, so a rekey has to fit the building's key chart; check with the management office before booking. How that works between residents is explained on the Midtown Atlanta page. Warn the concierge that a technician is headed to your floor.

Placing the van in Buckhead: ZIP codes, exits and the kind of building
Buckhead is not a city of its own but a district of Atlanta, all in Fulton County, which puts it on the 4Keys Atlanta number. Buckhead mail runs mostly on 30305, 30326 and 30327, with Lindbergh on 30324 at the southern end and Atlanta addresses on 30342 at the northern edge, a ZIP code that continues into Sandy Springs. The street address works; a building or complex name works too.
From GA 400, exit 2 lets out at Lenox Road, and GA 400 itself begins at I-85 in Lindbergh. From I-75, exit 255 serves Northside Parkway and West Paces Ferry Road. On Peachtree Road, Piedmont Road or Roswell Road, name the nearest cross street; on the residential streets off West Paces Ferry or Northside Parkway, give the house number and mention any gate.
The building changes the job. In a mall deck such as Lenox Square's, or a tower garage, give the deck, the level and the row; if the car is with a valet, the valet stand has to bring it out or let the technician reach it. Office towers with badge readers need the security desk told that a locksmith is on the way. High-rise condos have a concierge, and houses behind driveway gates need the code. The same dispatch covers Sandy Springs to the north, Brookhaven to the east, where the vans are based, and the rest of Atlanta.

After waiting 6 hours for another locksmith I called Juan and he was there in 10 minutes! Very grateful for him!
David was professional, easy to work with, and even swung by my hotel to take me to the parking lot at Truist Park where I had lost my “push to start” key in the stadium.
We had a great experience with 4Keys. They were able to come out same day and replace our key. Good communication throughout, transparent about pricing with no surprises at the end. I would recommend them.
