Module work requires OEM data, not generic flashing.

ECU, BCM, PCM, TCM, and immobilizer programming need manufacturer-signed software. NASTF VSP is the only legal U.S. channel. We are authorized.

Module Programming

Why every modern car is a network of computers

A modern vehicle is not one computer; it is ten to forty. The ECU manages engine timing. The TCM manages transmission shifting. The BCM controls doors, locks, lights, and the alarm. The PCM combines engine and transmission. All of them communicate over a CAN bus and all of them store data the immobilizer uses to authenticate keys before the engine starts.

When a module fails, gets replaced, or needs a software update, it must be programmed with manufacturer-signed software that matches your vehicle's VIN. Generic flashing tools do not work because the data is encrypted and tied to OEM credentials. NASTF VSP is the federal-level credential that gives authorized locksmiths legal access to this data. We hold it.

For European luxury brands the OEM data licensing is even more strict. Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Range Rover, Bentley, Rolls-Royce all run their own security data networks within the NASTF VSP umbrella. Read more about NASTF VSP here.

What We Program

The full module range

ECU / ECM

Engine Control Unit / Module. Flashing for performance updates, replacement coding after engine work.

BCM

Body Control Module. Lights, locks, alarm, immobilizer interface. Common in lost-keys scenarios.

PCM

Powertrain Control Module. Combined engine and transmission control. Reflashing and VIN coding.

TCM

Transmission Control Module. Programming after transmission rebuild or replacement.
How It Works

Six steps from diagnostic to working module

  1. 1

    Diagnostic scan

OBD-II tool reads existing module data, fault codes, and identifies what needs to be reflashed or replaced.

  2. 2

    Quote confirmed

Full price quoted on the phone before any module work begins. No surprise diagnostic fees.

  3. 3

OEM data fetch via NASTF VSP

Manufacturer software image fetched through authorized NASTF VSP channels.

  4. 4

    Module flashed or replaced

New OEM software written to the existing module, or a replacement module installed and coded to VIN.

  5. 5

    Sync with other modules

Module talks to BCM, PCM, immobilizer, and key fobs. All connections verified on the CAN bus.

  6. 6

    Function test and receipt

Engine start, transmission shift, lights, locks, alarm, key fobs verified. Receipt emailed.

FAQ - ECU & Module Programming FAQ

Got questions? We have answers. If you don't see your question below, call us anytime - we're available 24/7.

ECU (Engine Control Unit) manages engine timing and fuel. BCM (Body Control Module) manages doors, lights, locks, alarm. PCM (Powertrain Control Module) combines engine and transmission. TCM (Transmission Control Module) manages shifting. Each one is a small computer that may need flashing, coding, or replacement programming after a repair or upgrade.
Because the BCM and PCM both store the immobilizer security data that lets the engine start. When you replace a module, lose all keys, or rebuild the immobilizer, the module has to be reprogrammed to recognize the keys. Standard car shops do not have NASTF VSP authorization to fetch this OEM data legally.
Range: $200 to $600 for most domestic and Asian module work. European luxury (Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Range Rover) runs $400 to $900 because of OEM licensing fees through NASTF VSP. Specific quote depends on the module type and whether reflashing or full replacement coding is needed.
Yes. Full module replacement involves installing an OEM-equivalent module, coding it to your VIN, syncing it with the rest of the vehicle's modules, and programming any keys or smart fobs. End-to-end on-site in 90 to 180 minutes for most cases.
Yes for many vehicles. Manufacturer technical service bulletins (TSBs) and software updates can be flashed to the affected module using our dealer-level diagnostic tools. We do not perform safety-recall flashes that require a manufacturer authorization (those are dealer-only).
Yes. NASTF VSP authorization is required for legal access to Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Range Rover, Bentley, Rolls-Royce module data. We are authorized.
No when done through NASTF VSP authorized methods. The manufacturer recognizes the work as factory-grade. Gray-market shops bypassing the OEM data network can void warranty.
60 to 180 minutes on-site depending on the module type, vehicle, and whether full replacement coding is involved. We bring the diagnostic equipment to your garage, shop, or driveway.
