Trunk Lockout

Why a trunk lockout is a different job

A trunk lockout sounds like a smaller version of a car door lockout, but the lock geometry, latch mechanism, and emergency release paths are completely different. Door locks have wafers we can pick from the side. Trunk locks have rotating cam mechanisms that require different tools. Modern vehicles with electronic trunk release also rely on the battery, so a dead battery can leave the trunk fully sealed even with the keys in your hand.

Our trunk lockout kit includes trunk picks, long-reach tools, non-marring wedges, and pass-through access tools that let us reach the latch through the rear cabin without folding seats or drilling. Most opens take 5 to 15 minutes once the tech is on-site.

If your doors are also locked or you lost the only key, see Car Lockout or Lost Car Key Replacement for the combined service.

Common Scenarios

When you need a trunk opened fast

Key locked inside the trunk

Most common scenario. We open the trunk, you retrieve the key, no further action needed.

Dead battery, electronic release fails

Modern trunks rely on the battery. We open without power using mechanical access paths.

Broken latch or stuck mechanism

Older vehicles get worn latches that jam closed. We open and diagnose for repair.

Lost the only trunk key

Some older vehicles had separate trunk keys. We open and cut a new key on the same visit.
