Dunwoody's locksmith on wheels, for the office, the car and the house
In Dunwoody, GA, 4Keys Locksmith works as a mobile locksmith around the clock: ALOA certified, NASTF VSP authorized for automaker security data, insured and bonded, and set up as 4Keys Locksmith LLC with the Georgia Secretary of State. The van is the shop. It leaves from Brookhaven, just across I-285, and typically reaches a Dunwoody address in 15 to 30 minutes with the code cutter, the key programmer, cylinders, pins and door hardware on board; how a locksmith that comes to you works explains the model.
Dunwoody runs from the office towers of Perimeter Center along I-285 to the neighborhoods north of them, so the office work comes first below, followed by how a master key system is designed for a building. Car keys and house locks follow, each with the detail that shapes the work and the things to have at hand.
The dispatcher prices every job during the call, before any van is sent, and every published rate sits on the 4Keys price list. The same number answers in English and in Spanish.

How a master key system is designed for a building: levels, key symbols, the bitting list and the keyway
A master key system lets one key open many doors while each door keeps a key of its own. Inside a pin tumbler cylinder that is done with master pins, small extra pins that give a chamber a second shear line: one position for the door's change key, another for the master. The cost is built in: every extra shear line is another way for the plug to turn, and a six-pin cylinder with two shear points per chamber can, in theory, be operated by up to 64 different keys.
The plan is drawn like an organization chart. At the bottom is the change key, which opens one door or one group of doors keyed alike. Above it, a master key covers a floor, a department or a suite; a grand master ties several masters together; and the largest systems add a great grand master on top. ASSA ABLOY's master key design guide notes that most systems need no more than four levels and advises against going higher, because each added level puts more master pins in each chamber and raises the chance of a key opening a door it was never meant to.
Each key and cylinder gets a symbol from the standard key coding system: A for a grand master, AA and AB for the masters under it, AA1 and AA2 for the change keys under AA, with the letters I, O and Q skipped so nobody reads them as 1 or 0. The symbols go on a key system schematic, and the actual cuts go on the bitting list, the record of every combination in the system. With that list, any cylinder can be pinned again or any key cut, so it belongs with the owner or with the person the owner puts in charge of key control.
Early decisions decide how long the system lasts. Mechanical rooms, electrical closets and stairwells are grouped under their own master or keyed alike, so a floor master does not open them. A door that must stay outside the masters, a server room or a records room, is single keyed (SKD) while still belonging to the system. Cross keying, where two different change keys open one cylinder, is avoided where possible: the design guide says it lowers security and uses up room to grow, and handing someone a second key is the safer answer. Growth is written as real numbers of masters and doors, not as a percentage.
The keyway comes last. A stock keyway takes blanks sold anywhere; a patented or restricted keyway limits who can obtain blanks, with paperwork between the manufacturer and the owner, which keeps copies off hardware counters. 4Keys Locksmith designs, pins and installs master key systems for Dunwoody offices, clinics and multi-unit buildings; bring the door list, who needs which doors, and how many you expect to add. For a suite inside someone else's building, the Sandy Springs page on suite rekeys and the building master picks up the story, and the planning guide for master key systems covers the paperwork.
How a key system is written down: levels, symbols and what each key opens
Names and symbols as the standard key coding system and the LIST Council glossary define them. The last column is an illustration; your building's chart is drawn from its own door list.
| Key | Symbol | What it opens | Where it might sit in an office building |
|---|---|---|---|
| Change key (CK) | AA1, AA2 | One cylinder, or one group of cylinders keyed alike | A single office, or all the doors of one small suite. |
| Master key (MK) | AA, AB | Every cylinder under it, each still with its own change key | The manager of one floor or one department. |
| Grand master key (GMK) | A, B | Every master group under it | Facilities staff across several floors. |
| Great grand master key (GGMK) | GGM | Several grand master systems | An owner with more than one building; the fourth and last recommended level. |
| Selective master key | ENG, HSKP, JAN | Chosen doors anywhere in the system, without key interchange | Engineering, housekeeping or janitorial rounds of closets and restrooms. |
| Single keyed (SKD) | SKD1, SKD2 | One cylinder that belongs to the system but is not master keyed | A server room or a records room kept off every master. |

Finding the van in Dunwoody: ZIP codes, I-285 exits and the buildings that change the job
Most Dunwoody addresses carry the 30338 or 30346 ZIP code, and edges of the city fall in 30360, 30350 and 30328, ZIPs shared with neighboring mailing areas. Every one of them is covered; the street address, or the building and suite, is all the dispatcher needs.
I-285 runs along the southern edge. Exit 29, Ashford-Dunwoody Road, serves Perimeter Center and the Perimeter Mall decks, and exit 30, Chamblee-Dunwoody Road with North Shallowford and North Peachtree roads, leads to Georgetown and the east side. GA 400 runs just past the western city line, with Abernathy Road (exit 5) signed for Dunwoody. Inside the city, name the nearest cross street on Ashford-Dunwoody Road, Chamblee-Dunwoody Road or Mount Vernon Road; in Dunwoody Village, Williamsburg, Winters Chapel or Tilly Mill, the street address is enough.
At an office tower, say which entrance the technician should use and whether visitors need a pass; work on suite or common-area doors in a multi-tenant building goes more smoothly once management has agreed to it. For a car at the Dunwoody MARTA station on Hammond Drive or in a mall deck, give the deck, the level and the nearest row. Gated apartment and condo communities need the code or someone at the gate. The same dispatch covers Sandy Springs across GA 400, Brookhaven across I-285 and Chamblee to the southeast.
