Homestead, South Miami-Dade

A mobile locksmith for South Dade's pickups, work vans, cars, homes and businesses

4Keys Locksmith brings truck, car, home and business lock work to Homestead, FL around the clock as a NASTF VSP authorized, ALOA certified, insured and bonded company, run by Qorinca LLC with Miami-Dade County locksmith license LK-094576. There is no shop to visit. Blanks for Ford, GM and Ram keys, a code cutter and the programming laptop come to the truck in a driveway or on a job site, or to the door of the house or the business.

Vehicles lead this page, since a pickup or work van without its key can idle a whole crew: first the car jobs at a glance, then truck keys generation by generation, then the home locks and the business locks, each with what decides the work and what to have handy when you phone. How long the van takes depends on where in South Dade the vehicle sits; the dispatcher says so on the call, in a typical range of 15 to 30 minutes.

You agree to the price over the phone before anyone is sent, and the reference rates are posted on the price page. Ask in English or in Spanish; the Spanish version of this page is Cerrajero en Homestead.

Car Locksmith, Homestead

Pickups, cars, SUVs and vans: every car job a Homestead driver can call about

Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, Chevrolet, Ford, Jeep, Dodge and Ram, plus German, British and Italian models. Each card names what decides the job.

Car or truck lockout

Cab, cabin or camper shell, the technician gets you in with entry tools matched to the vehicle. Mention where the key is: seat, trunk or a locked bed box. Read how a lockout call goes and what to try first.

A second key

As long as one key still starts it, a spare is cut to that blade and enrolled at the vehicle. That is the simplest moment to add one, before the last key goes missing. Read copying a car key.

No key left at all

The code for the blade comes from the VIN, the chip is enrolled from scratch, and any missing key is deleted from the immobilizer if the make allows it. For each year, the dispatcher spells out the route before the van leaves. See replacing a lost key and the all-keys-lost guide.

Fobs and push-button keys

An online-bought fob gets programmed when its FCC ID, the frequency and the part number all suit the vehicle, a case our Kendall page owns. A working fob that dropped its pairing is relinked; a fob with a failure record is retired for a new one under the 4Keys warranty (which one you need). Service: fob and smart key setup.

Ignition trouble

Hard to turn, stuck halfway, or turning with nothing happening: cylinder and key are both inspected before a repair is priced. Guides on a frozen ignition key and an ignition key that spins, plus ignition cylinder work.

Snapped key

Whatever piece stayed in the ignition or door gets pulled, then a fresh key is cut; keep both pieces for the technician. See removing a broken key; our North Miami page covers it in depth.

Replaced module

When a shop puts in a new BCM, engine computer or immobilizer module, it is paired to the truck and its keys on site with dealer-level software under NASTF VSP authorization. Our Doral page lists what each module asks for; the service is computer and module programming.

Crews and fleets

Contractors, landscapers and delivery companies get spares and lost-key work on several vehicles in one stop. Have the VINs listed. See keys for work fleets.

European and luxury

A BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, VW, Land Rover or Lexus key is handled under that same NASTF VSP registration. See European and luxury keys and our Bay Harbor Islands page.
Truck Keys, In Depth

Work-truck keys by generation: read the blank, then the chip, on Ford, GM and Ram

A truck key answers two separate questions. The blade answers the first: its groove pattern and its cuts, from a key code series the manufacturer assigns. The chip in the head, or the absence of one, answers the second: whether the immobilizer will let the engine run. STRATTEC's aftermarket catalog names each blank by both, so the stamp on your key and the model year point to the blank and the programming route before anything is cut.

On Ford, the system is PATS. STRATTEC lists the "84 groove IPATS" blank, with a Texas 4D-63 chip, for both the F-150 and the F-250 and F-350 Super Duty from 2004 to 2010. The Super Duty then moved to a three-button remote-head key stamped "S" for 2011 to 2016, and to a side-milled IPATS key from 2017, the same family the F-150 took in 2015, with a 128-bit Hitag Pro chip. The Transit van from 2015 has its own side-milled key and a separate cargo key. Ford's owner text lets a driver add a key only with two coded keys already in hand, up to eight in all; with fewer, its advice is a tow to the dealer. A PATS-capable programmer at the truck does that job where it stands.

On General Motors, the Circle Plus key, stamped PK3 or with a plus sign, covers the Silverado and Sierra from 2007 to 2013 (Sierra HD to 2014) and the Express and Savana vans from 2008 to 2014. With one original key, STRATTEC's add-a-key routine teaches the truck a new one. From 2014 the Silverado takes a molded encrypted key, listed by STRATTEC for 2014 to 2020, and Lishi's HU100 pick fitment lists the locks of the 2014 to 2018 Silverado and Sierra and the 2015 to 2019 Express and Savana on that side-milled profile. On 2014 to 2016 pickups a recognized key adds new ones, up to eight; with none, a relearn of about 30 minutes registers a key and leaves every earlier key dead.

On Ram, the Sentry Key blade came first: Y160 from 2002 to 2005, then the Y164 stamped "S" for 2006 to 2008. FOBIK, a fob with the key built in that plugs into the dash's Wireless Ignition Node, is listed for the Ram pickup from 2008 to 2017, with blade and FOBIK side by side for 2009 to 2014 depending on trim. STRATTEC gives all three the same 84 groove and the same M0001-2618 key code series. Customer programming needs two working keys and sets up the remote in the same pass; with fewer, the key is programmed with a tool, and for 2014 and later trucks the PIN is bought by VIN from Stellantis by holders of an active NASTF VSP credential, and 4Keys Locksmith is NASTF VSP authorized.

Pickups by chip generation, F-150 and Silverado first, are compared on the Acworth, Georgia page. When every key is gone, the route is the one on the Hialeah page; for a yard of trucks keyed in one visit, see the Opa-locka page.

Super Duty, Transit, Express, Savana and Ram: the blank, the chip and the way to a new key

Years as STRATTEC's catalogs, the transponder catalogs and NHTSA list them, without trimming a band. Trims inside a band can differ, so the VIN confirms your truck on the call.

Homes in Homestead and Florida City: getting in, new keys and new hardware

Single-family houses, townhomes and rentals. What each job involves and what to mention on the call.

Locked out of the house

Getting you back inside starts at the lock already on the door. A key that will not turn up again is answered with new pins in that cylinder before the van leaves. After hours this is an emergency call.

Rekey

Fresh pins, a fresh key, and every earlier copy turned useless, with the knob or deadbolt left in place. For a house you just bought, our Miami Shores page walks through rekeying versus replacing. See locksmith work for homes.

New locks and deadbolts

Tired or damaged hardware gets replaced, and a knob-only door can gain a deadbolt. Doors with no existing hole need boring and a strike plate, which our Pinecrest page explains.

Keypad and app locks

Where the model allows, a smart deadbolt drops into the current bore, and user codes are loaded during the visit. For what to check before buying one, read our Midtown Miami page.

Sliding and patio doors

Sliding glass doors lock with a hook latch that also depends on the door riding level. A latch that no longer catches is looked at with the rollers in mind; our Palmetto Bay page covers it in detail.

High-security cylinders

A restricted keyway means a hardware store cannot copy the key; extra keys are ordered through an authorized channel. Read about key control on our Design District page.
Commercial Locksmith, Homestead

Shops, offices, clinics and yards: business locks in South Dade

A worker who quits with a key leaves a list of doors behind: front, back, office, stockroom, gate. Each cylinder on that list gets repinned. In a building keyed to a master system, the new pinning follows the key chart so the keys that remain keep opening what they should, and a system built from nothing can be planned with our master key planning guide. More in business locksmith services.

Staff entrances can trade metal keys for a keypad or a card and fob reader, so a badge that walks away is simply disabled; access control for offices is the topic of our Downtown Miami page. Back and side doors that must open with one push from inside carry exit devices; a jammed bar, a door that will not latch or a missing outside cylinder is put right on site, and knowing whether the door is steel, aluminum or wood helps the dispatcher load parts.

Glass-and-aluminum shop doors in a strip center use narrow-stile deadlocks with mortise cylinders, as our Wynwood page explains. Owners and managers locked out at night are let back in once the dispatcher's check for the case is done, and a business key gone for good can be answered with new pins on that trip. At a contractor's yard, the trucks and the gate or office locks fit in one visit.

South Dade Coverage

Homestead, Florida City, Leisure City and Redland: getting the technician to the vehicle

4Keys Locksmith covers Homestead mailing addresses in ZIP codes 33030, 33031, 33032, 33033, 33034 and 33035, Miami-Dade County, which take in Florida City, Leisure City, Naranja, Princeton and the Redland. Give the street address and, at an apartment or townhome complex, the building and unit.

From the Turnpike's Homestead Extension, exit 2 puts you on Campbell Drive (SW 312th Street) in Homestead, exit 5 on Biscayne Drive (SW 288th Street) by Leisure City, and exit 1 is the end of the road at US 1 in Florida City. Campbell Drive runs west to the south end of Krome Avenue. On US 1 or Krome Avenue, name the nearest cross street or numbered street. The same dispatch covers Palmetto Bay and Kendall farther north on the Turnpike.

Rural property and job sites change how the van finds you. If the truck is on a lot with no number on the gate, share a map pin from your phone or the two nearest numbered streets, and say which gate is open. On a construction site, give the site entrance and a contact who can let the van in. At a gated community, have the code ready or meet the van at the entrance. A pickup at a fuel stop or a store lot is worked on in its parking space.

FAQ - Homestead Locksmith Questions About Trucks, Keys and Locks

Telling which key a truck takes, adding a spare with one key, FOBIK, a truck with no key, work vans, old keys after programming, a hard-turning ignition, and calling in Spanish.

Look at the key you have. A GM key stamped PK3 or with a plus sign is a Circle Plus transponder key; a Ram key stamped S is a Sentry Key blade; a Ford key with a remote built into the head and an S stamp is a remote-head key; a fob that plugs into the dash is a FOBIK. Add the year, the model and turn key or push button, and the VIN does the rest.
Yes. Ford’s owner procedure needs two coded keys, so with one it does not apply, but 4Keys Locksmith programs the new key at the truck in Homestead with a PATS-capable programmer and cuts the blade to match. Ford’s procedure allows up to eight coded keys in all. Having the spare made now avoids the lost-key route later.
FOBIK means fob with integrated key: the fob plugs into the dash ignition node and carries an emergency blade. It is listed for the Ram pickup from 2008 to 2017. With two working keys the owner can add one; with fewer, it is programmed with a tool, and on 2014 and later trucks with a PIN bought by VIN from Stellantis under NASTF VSP, which 4Keys holds.
No. The technician cuts a key by code and registers it at the truck. On 2014 to 2016 Silverado and Sierra pickups, registering a key with none left takes a relearn of about 30 minutes, after which every earlier key stops starting the truck. Which route fits your year is settled on the phone, along with the documents your particular case calls for.
Yes. The 2008 to 2014 Express and Savana use the Circle Plus transponder key, the 2015 and later Savana is listed with a side-mill key or a coined key with no chip, and the Transit from 2015 has a side-mill key plus a separate cargo key. A yard with several vans is handled van by van in a single stop, so list the VINs before calling.
It depends on the route. Adding a key with a working key keeps the old ones. A relearn with no key, such as the one on 2014 to 2016 GM pickups, cancels every earlier key, and when keys are lost the technician erases them from memory where the system allows, so a lost key can no longer start the truck. Bring every key you still have so the ones you keep are registered again.
Try the spare. If both keys stick, the problem is likely in the ignition lock. On certain 2011 to 2012 and 2014 to 2015 Silverado and Sierra trucks, NHTSA recalls 14V-827 and 15V-640 cover an ignition lock actuator that can bind, so check your VIN on the NHTSA recall lookup first. If only one key sticks, a new key cut by code is the fix.
Yes. Dispatchers take calls in either language, and this area has its own Spanish page, Cerrajero en Homestead. Whatever the language, the quote is settled before the van moves, and if the visit falls between 9 PM and 7 AM local time, and on Sundays and federal holidays, the after-hours surcharge is already counted in that quote.
